| The Animal Liberation movement of Australia was
founded in 1976 by Christine Townsend, based on the philosophies
of Professor Peter Singer, as set out in his book "Animal Liberation".
Animal Liberation has independant branches in all states of Australia
and many thousands of supporters.
Animal Liberation in Western Australia was founded soon after and
was incorporated in 1983 as Animal Liberation (WA) Inc. It is a
volunteer run non-profit organisation that receives no government
or other funding. The organisation obtains funds through donations,
subscriptions and other fund-raising efforts.
Animal Liberation (WA) Inc. has a book and video library as well
as other resource material that is available for use, and is used
in numerous talks given free of charge at schools, universities
and other organisations.
