Cattle Feedlots

A feedlot is where a large number of cattle are kept in a small paddock. They don't graze. They simply stand in an overcrowded yard through all weathers. There is rarely any shade under which to shelter from the blazing midday sun.

The meat from feedlots is very popular in Asia where the preference is for a more fatty "marbled" meat. This fat is produced because the cattle are fed grain and have no means of exercise.

Because cattle are cloven-hoofed and produce so much manure, feedlots are an environmental disaster due to soil degradation and pollution.
